Class is the issue, not the caste.

Why do people judge by caste?
We are living in 21st century where we say that there is no difference in any human being. Whenever I meet someone the old and aged he/she asks me my caste and I say sarcastically ‘I am an Indian.’I never understood the reason behind asking someone’s caste. From class 1st we have been taught that all the people are equal. Casteism now a day seems the fatal accident by birth. People are struggling because they are born in Dalit family and belong to lower caste. Sarcastic comments are passed and people from higher caste tease people from lower caste.  They don’t respect people from lower class. Wait a minute we have not been taught this in school.
When I was in class 2nd I have learnt to respect everyone. I have learnt all the fundamental rights a citizen owns. I learnt right to equality, right to freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion, cultural and educational rights, right to property and right to constitutional remedies. I think we all have read this and know these rights fairly. Still, even the educated people believe in casteism which is shocking and literally give goose bumps.

In this modern society people asks their children’s to stay away from SC/ST and lower caste children’s and tell them the adverse part about their caste. Why? Whenever I ask someone why they ask about the caste they say ‘we don’t care. We are educated people we respect every religion ‘then why these people ask about caste. This is like none of their business, still they keep interest and never leave any reason to comment.
I found one of my friend passing comments like chamar, kanjar, bhangi etc to other people.
Look she is eating like chamar and I asked her how you can say that chamar’s eat like this only?
once she said -What is she wearing? Isn’t she looks like bhangi and again I asked her how you can judge her by clothes?
The woman was aware of the comments my friend passed. She came to us and said “Don’t judge me by my clothes and the work I do... I eat food of my hard-earned money, I work so that my children’s can study and you are no one to make comments on me’’.
Then my friend felt ashamed .
If you want to be respected, respect other people too and caste, complexion, creed, gender, profession, etc.., doesn’t matter.
Casteism is not only the rural social problem its one of the urban social problem too. According to law, practicing untouchability and discriminating a person based on his caste is legally forbidden in India.
These silly social problems can be improved, if we change our thinking these may disappear.Class is the issue not the caste.

Don’t judge, change your thinking, support equality.
